KINETIK MENTIONED IN "FUTURE MUSIC"
KINETIK and the SuperNova have been mentioned in the latest (July 98) issue of the music technology magazine Future Music. Alexander Morris from Lancashire sent in a letter which reads as follows :
Supernova spotted
Further to your FM 67 News piece on the Novation Supernova [where we asked you to let us know if you spotted the elusive Supernova - Ed], I spotted two Supernova prototypes at a concert by Kinetik (a talented Kraftwerk type band) in Derby on 5 April. You're probably wondering how they got hold of two; well the band have helped Novation design the Supernova since 1996 and band leader Colin Jordan demonstrated some of the features at the Frankfurt Musikmesse in March (where you saw your model). You could hear the machine in action at the concert; It has a power capable of blasting you out of your chair and with this in mind I look forward to the review.
Alexander Morris, Lancashire.
The somewhat sarcastic reply to this letter by Future Music was as follows :
Top marks for observation. As it happens, Colin Jordan is one of the programmers at Novation. But perhaps if he'd spent less time doing gigs with Kinetik and more time programming the Supernova, the rest of us could manage to get our hands on one and try out those chair-blasting properties ourselves !
Latest news from Novation is that the SuperNova has actually been available in the stores since late May. A full review of the machine is due to appear (among others) in August issue of Future Music, available in July.
