Kinetik Studios Relocate To Cornwall

After five years of producing Kinetik musik in industrialised West Wales, two thirds of the Kinetik trio (Colin & Shirleyann) have now decided to relocate to Cornwall. Lack of room in the old studio was one of the deciding factors in making the move. Kinetik have now completed installing and equipping their brand new studio which is now big enough to house all of the band's electronic equipment. Despite actually being further from Bath than West Wales, it is now actually easier and quicker for Andrew to attend Kinetik recording sessions and rehearsals.

The band's new studio location on the Lizard Peninsula is very inspirational. Nearby are the impressive vast radio satellite dishes of Goonhilly Downs, used by British Telecom to beam digitised communications data to satellites in outer space. Also nearby is Poldhu Cove, the location used by Marconi for his trans-Atlantic communication experiments early last century. It is very likely that some material in the forthcoming MODEM TIMES album with its themes of communication and today's digital world will be inspired by these locations.

Kinetik - Feature & Interview In Sequences Magazine

The latest issue of "Sequences" magazine, issue #24 features a four page detailed interview with Kinetik. The band talk extensively about their latest CD releases, the Bath Electronica concert, memories of attending EMMA#4 and much more. Also included is a round-up and review of all the currently available Kinetik CD releases. Of special mention is the superb full colour centre page spread featuring imagery from the recent Bath concert. This image would actually make a worthy poster if you could bear to take apart your magazine !!!

Kinetik had been invited to participate an exclusive track for the accompanying CD, but regrettably the band were unable to meet the deadline for submissions due to the amount of work still required in setting up the new Kinetik studio. Kinetik still have an invitation to submit a track for a future issue, so it is very likely that before too long, a forthcoming copy of "Sequences" will include some Kinetik musical dabblings.

The latest issue of Sequences costs £7.95 (including an accompanying CD). Please visit the Sequences website at http://www.sequences.demon.co.uk for more details.

Forthcoming Kinetik Concert In Newcastle

Kinetik have accepted an invitation to play at a new electronic music club currently being launched by T-bass member David Hughes. Originally hoping to participate in October this year, the band have regrettably had to delay their participation until around the end of February 2001 due to work pressures. More details of this forthcoming performance will be posted on the Kinetik site as they are finalised.

The Kinetik Story Translated to Italian

Parts one and two of "The Kinetik Story" have been translated into Italian by Basile Tonino for the October 2000 issue of the Italian electronic music magazine "21st Century Music". Part three of "The Kinetik Story" is currently in preparation and should be appearing on this site and a forthcoming issue of "21st Century Music" before too long.

New Look For Kinetik Website

No doubt by now you will have noticed the drastic new look (and address) of the Kinetik Website. The site is now being run and maintained by none other than Kinetik's very own Shirleyann Davies after the original maintainer of the old site had indicated that he no longer wished to be involved. One of the benefits of the new state-of-affairs is that the site should now be updated much more regularly.

MODEM TIMES Launch Date ?

Kinetik's long-awaited next studio album is now scheduled for release late in 2001, hopefully the album will be launched at a special Kinetik concert. This may be at the concert in Newcastle for November or at the possible Blackpool party gig. Studio sessions for the album will be re-started in February 2001.
