MODEM TIMES Feedback
First off, let me say thank you for sending my
"MODEM TIMES" package and secondly WOW what an album :)
The fist thing that struck me about the album
was the just the sound, it's awesome, I can't put into words what I was experiencing but the sound is definitely out there and I know
you all struggled with this CD for a long time but it most definitely was worth it in my opinion. The sound is just so clean and spacious
and just like I said so many other adjectives that I can't describe but you have got to be pleased with it all.
Also may I say thanks for the "supplement" great
pun!!! finally a studio version of "TRANS CONTINENTAL" Andrews song and as always "GO ELEMENTS GO" which is one of my great faves.
Thanks again for all the time and effort you all
put into this album and may I say that in just one hearing it was all completely worth it, I know as time goes by I'll hear more and more
parts to it all... can't wait

Congratulations on putting together a brilliant live concert at last
Saturday’s EMMA Festival. Even though you had a few technical hitches
which you probably at the time thought to be major came across as fairly
minor with me and all who attended the show.
I must also say that the tracks ‘I.S.D.N.’ and also ‘Trans
Continental’ composed by Andrew were brilliant, will these tracks appear
on a future release ?
Ian
Miller - June 1997
Thanks so very much for the fast reply, + sending your SUPERB NEW CD. I
think that it’s the most important release so far this year… I must say
I like every track very much, but I have some favourites ‘INDUSTRIAL
TECHNOLOGY’ is a major hit… I have put my CD player on repeat again
& again… I just love the track. + ‘Pipeline’ great, +
‘Generations’, + ‘Dance Machine’ + ‘REFINED’ a very cool song.
Summary : a very best CD release (KEEP IT UP THE GOOD WORK) I like very much
the CD cover (superb painting) very nice cover….

I enjoyed Kinetik’s Burning Issue and Refined very very much. And now
I’m a Kinetik’s fan ! I spoke of Kinetik to my friends, and one of them
at least intends to order CDs from Kinetik too!
Thomas
Jaeck (France) - October 1999
Thank you for the answer and the Kinetik news. Your website is very
interesting and the CD Refined is “GENIAL”. I love ‘Kinetik Energy’
/ ‘Pipeline’ / ‘Dance Machine’ / ‘Generation’.
Could you send to me the new album : Re-generations.
Phillippe
Courvoisier (France) - December 1999
Postman Pat brought me my copy of the ‘I.S.D.N.’ EP today, and bloody
splendid it is too! Be sure to let me know when ‘Modem Times’ is
available !
Tony
Sawford - March 2000
May I say how much I enjoyed the Bath concert, you all played extremely
well. You seem to get better and better with each concert and CD release. I
look forward to seeing you live again soon.
Alexander
Morris - March 2000
Kinetik’s renewed burst of activity at the beginning of 2000 saw the
‘Re-generations’ double set hitting the market, showcasing the band’s
past (disc one) and future (disc two) while providing plenty for collectors
to get their teeth into by way of the remixes of tracks from ‘Refined’
that appear on disc one….
Of the live tracks, one welcome number is ‘Trans Continental’ which went
down so well when Kinetik played at EMMA 4, while the later single ‘I.S.D.N.’
also benefits from the band’s powerful live presence.
Disc two features three excellent new tracks, starting with ‘Hydro
Electric’, showcasing the band’s new sequencer-heavy style. ‘Go
Elements, Go’ follows and this is a most zippy track, catchy and utterly
brilliant. ‘In-Novation’ makes up the trio and is a more rhythm-led
offering with more minimalistic melodic motifs and treated vocals. This
shows the band’s style moving into new fields which can only be good for
them and their future.

A few of my friends who 've had a listen to the KINETIK CDs really like your
music. Like a KRAFTWERK of the new millennium.
Craig
Jaus (USA) - March 2002
Your concert really exceeded my expectations. One unique defect - everything
lasted too few. The sounds were really good and the video installations
nice. My preferred songs : Marconi, I.S.D.N., Go Elements Go. My preferred
video : I.S.D.N., Marconi.
Emilio
Giaretta (Italy) - April 2002
Have to say, in spite of the obvious links to the almighty "K", I
think you're doing some terrific stuff.

Elektro
Kinetik : 1993 & 1994

Shirleyann
Davies, Colin Jordan, David England
The
video show now over, without the gremlins that had spoiled the previous
year’s presentation, signalled a new item on the itinerary, which was a
showing of a live group going by the name of Elektro Kinetik. This trio made
a very good job of some old Kraftwerk favourites, adding some of their own
improvisations over the top of the already know themes and rhythms.
After
a couple of sets and the audience showing their enthusiastic appreciation it
was a case of “…well, follow that!”
‘Zenith’
Magazine - 1993
What really made the day for me was the superb performance by Elektro
Kinetik. I could have sat and listened to them for another three hours and
enjoyed every minute of it.
Mike
Bagg - February 1993
The highpoint for many, though, is the performance of Elektro Kinetik
- quite possibly the world’s only Kraftwerk covers band. Elektro
Kinetik’s Colin Jordan has taken enormous pains to recreate the band’s
sound, and it must be said that the effect is impressive. It’s a rather
surreal experience to hear ‘Europe Endless’ from the comfort of a
parquet-floored hotel ballroom, but somehow, the whole thing makes perfect
sense. By ‘Tour de France’, Elektro Kinetik are kicking. Crouched over
their primordial collection of largely analogue technology, the band gallops
through a set that draws heavily on the ‘Computer World’ and ‘Electric
Café’ eras, but also throws in some earlier gems like ‘Metropolis’.
While
a lot of the synth and vocoder sounds are near enough indistinguishable from
the originals, Elektro Kinetik play around with the structures of the songs
- just as Kraftwerk themselves have always done. While many of today’s
acts are constrained by the ubiquitous DAT backing track syndrome, let’s
not forget that improvisation has always been a hallmark of the
Kraftwerk’s own live performances. For the finale, convention organiser
Paul Wilkinson (in black shirt and obligatory flashing LED jewellery) picks
up a custom controller and joins in on an epic re-reading of ‘Pocket Calculator’.
‘Sound
On Sound’ Magazine - May 1994
Once all had eaten, it was time for what most probably saw as the
highlight of the day, Elektro Kinetik. This band and their impressive set up
have obviously spent a lot of time getting their Kraftwerk renditions right
and it was particularly good to that they varied the track listing from last
years. The decision to include previously non-live tracks such as ‘Europe
Endless’ and ‘Sex Object’ was a positive one. Their video sync is also
worthy of note, something I’m sure that must have taken some time to get
right.
