Apologies to everyone who has been waiting for the album’s release since April. The delay has been due to various circumstances beyond the band’s control.
The Windows Art Centre has its own website at which will feature concert details and ticket prices nearer to the event.
The WAC site also contains a handy map of the venue’s location in Bath. Tickets will be priced at £4.50 and £3.50 for concessions. This price is a little higher than originally anticipated, but the event is now to be held in aid of the Windows Art Centre itself. Doors will open at 8:00pm. A bar will be available at the venue.
The band
are currently busy preparing a new live set of material for this special
one-off event. As well as performing various new material from the RE-GENERATIONS
album live for the very first time, Kinetik also plan to premiere some of
the music material already written for the forthcoming MODEM TIMES studio album, scheduled for release towards the end of
2000.
Long-standing Kinetik Friends will no doubt be pleased to know that the
concert is also planned to feature classic arrangements of Kinetik material
from the REFINED album as well ! The
evening will feature a few ‘musical surprises’, but we’re saying nothing more
about these at the moment !
The Bath
concert is to feature Kinetik’s famous custom-synchronised computer graphics
and video footage projected onto a giant screen during the performance in a
similar manner to the EMMA#4 concert in 1997. Video projection is to be
operated by long-standing member of the Kinetik Family, David England. Some
imaginative lighting effects are also being planned in co-operation with
Ravenhill Lighting, a company headed by a long-standing musical colleague of
Andrew’s.
It is expected that Kinetik’s performance will last around 1 ½ hours
with Kinetik taking to the stage at approx 9:20pm. Supporting Kinetik will be a
local DJ friend of Andrew’s who will be playing appropriate music before
Kinetik’s set.
Official
Kinetik merchandise will be available at the venue including CDs and the
planned Kinetik T-shirt featuring the pylon design from the
RE-GENERATIONS
CD cover. It is possible that an exclusive new limited-edition CD SINGLE will also be on sale at the
concert, but this will depend upon the successful completion of a Kinetik
recording session to be held towards the end of January. Should the CD single
be produced, it is likely that it will consist of a full studio version of the
track “I.S.D.N” (taken from the forthcoming MODEM TIMES album), an exclusive remix of “I.S.D.N” and an
exclusive, previously unreleased live track taken from the EMMA 1997 concert.
The CD single would be very strictly limited to only 25 copies and be sold on a
first-come-first-served basis.
Kinetik
will be making a live digital recording of this concert. It is possible that
some of the concert may be released on a future Kinetik CD release.
“MODEM TIMES”
Studio Sessions Started
In
early January, Kinetik at last started recording music material for their next
studio album MODEM TIMES which is
scheduled to be released towards the end of 2000. The band successfully
recorded and mastered the title track “Modem Times” which will be premiered at
the forthcoming Bath concert. Other music material for the album has already
been written and arranged for the album, but has yet to be recorded. Some of
this will also be premiered at the Bath concert.
Kinetik
will continue to record and master music for MODEM TIMES during various recording sessions planned throughout
the remainder of 2000. The next of these is due to take place at the end of
January.
UK synth manufacturer Novation launched the
latest product in the SuperNova range, the more compact and affordable desktop NOVA
during the summer. As with the SuperNova, the machine has gained rave reviews
in the music press, Future Music
awarding the synth a platinum award (and cover feature) in the October 1999
issue.
As with the SuperNova, Kinetik have played a key
role in developing the instrument, Colin Jordan again co-writing the machine’s
operating system. Of particular intrest to Kinetik on the machine is a new
feature of the SuperNova series – a 40 band high quality vocoder which Kinetik have already
used to great effect on the RE-GENERATIONS track “Go Elements,
Go” and anticipate using extensively in any future live performances.
UK Synth manufacturer Novation’s Nova laptop synthesizer has been voted
‘Best Synthesizer’
in 1999’s Future Music
‘Gear of the Year’ awards. Readers of Future
Music (a magazine specialising in electronic music production) were invited
to vote for the best synthesizer of 1999. The Nova won, beating products such
as Korg’s Trinity workstation to take first place. Kinetik have been heavily
involved with the design of the Nova, the latest in Novation’s range of
SuperNova instruments since 1996 – Kinetik’s Colin Jordan has actually helped
to code the machine’s operating system and Kinetik have designed several of the
machine’s impressive and unique features.
This is
actually the second year running that Novation have scooped this award for an
instrument in the SuperNova range. 1998’s ‘Best Synth’ award was won by the
original SuperNova instrument.
May we
take this opportunity to wish all our Kinetik friends a cool Yule and a great
Millennium - however you decide to celebrate it.
