Kinetik's latest CD release, the Marconi EP, will be launched on December 12th 2001. This date is exactly 100 years to the day since radio pioneer Marconi successfully transmitted the world's first trans-Atlantic radio message from Poldhu Cove, Cornwall, just a couple of miles away from Kinetik’s new studios. Tracks on the EP have been inspired by Marconi's historic achievement. CD artwork has been prepared by long-term member of the Kinetik Family, David England. The CD cover, pictured below features Poldhu Cove. The building to the left on the cliff is the new Marconi Exhibition centre where the Centenary celebrations will be taking place on 12/12/01.

The CD was finalsised and
mastered at the end of November. The track listing will be :
(1) MARCONI (Radio Edit) 4:06
(2) TUNING IN 0:41
(3) MARCONI (Album Version) 5:49
(4) INTO THE ETHER 5:45
Tracks (2) & (3) are taken from the forthcoming MODEM TIMES album. Tracks
(1) & (4) are exclusive to this CD release and will not be available
elsewhere.
The EP will be a limited pressing of 100 copies. It is now possible to order
this CD in advance, but any orders will not be despatched until the CD's release
date of 12th December 2001. Price of the Marconi EP will be 4.00 UK pounds. The
usual additional P & P rates of 1.00 (UK) or 1.50 (rest of the world) will
apply.

It was originally hoped that the long-awaited MODEM TIMES album would be released on Marconi's anniversary. Unfortunately, unexpected commitments elsewhere have meant that Andrew has found it difficult to attend recording sessions in Cornwall to complete the project. It is now expected that the album will be released in early 2002.
Kinetik have been invited to participate in the Marconi Centenary celebrations, by local radio station, BBC Radio Cornwall. All three members of Kinetik will be attending the event at Poldhu on 12/12/01. It is expected that the band will be interviewed about their latest Marconi-inspired work and that the forthcoming CD single will be premiered on the airwaves. Further Kinetik appearances on BBC radio later in the year are also likely, but at the time of writing have yet to be decided.
